A real week

A DJ juggling deposits across a summer of gigs

You DJ weddings and private parties, twelve or fifteen a summer. A booking is a deposit now and the balance the week before. The deposits arrive by bank transfer, cash at a consultation, or a payment link you send from your phone, and by July you are not sure which couples have paid what.

The moments

  • A couple says they sent the deposit three weeks ago; you cannot find it.
  • The Thursday before a Saturday gig, chasing a balance by text while loading the van.
  • A cancellation, and working out what the contract says about the deposit.
  • Overtime at the reception that nobody invoiced afterwards.

What goes wrong

  • A gig held on a verbal yes, no deposit, and the date is asked for by someone who will pay today.
  • Balances chased by hand get chased late, or not at all, and you play a wedding you have not been paid for.
  • Cash and transfers are in your head, so the spreadsheet is wrong by the end of the summer.

What Booksui does

  • The event agreement is signed on the couple’s phone and the deposit is requested on the same page, into your own Stripe. The gig is Booked when both are done, not before.
  • The balance is an invoice with a due date the week before the event; the reminder goes out on its own and stops the moment it is paid.
  • A deposit paid in cash or by transfer is recorded by hand and marks the invoice paid the same way.
  • Overtime is a line item on the final invoice; the couple pays it from the same link.

Honest limits

  • Starter: 5 contracts, 10 invoices, 10 active inquiries. Finished gigs can be archived to free the slots.
  • Card payments need a connected Stripe account; Stripe charges its fee and Booksui adds a platform fee on each client payment, shown on your Stripe Connect page.

Related answers

Does Booksui work for DJs?
Yes — pick DJ as your trade and the pipeline runs inquiry, consultation, proposal, booked, music planning, final details and event day, with the planning meeting as a real phase and the couple’s must-plays and do-not-plays kept on the job. Contracts, the deposit at signing and the shared inbox work the same as for a photographer.
Does Booksui send automatic payment reminders?
Yes — an overdue invoice gets a reminder because a payment is missing, and the reminders stop the moment it is not. Late fees, if you switch them on, follow the rate you set.
Can clients pay invoices online?
Yes — every invoice has a pay page where the client pays by card, and the money goes into your own Stripe account, never through Booksui. Deposits, balances and payment plans all use the same page, and a payment marks the invoice paid on the job.
