Most studios do not start messy. They start human.
One inquiry comes through Instagram, another through a website form, a contract sits in email, a deposit lands in Stripe, and the final gallery lives somewhere else. None of that feels broken when there are five clients. At fifty, the system starts asking you to remember too much.
The goal of a CRM migration is not to create a perfect archive. The goal is to make next week easier.
Do not import every contact first. Begin with the work that can still move: open inquiries, booked sessions, unsigned contracts, unpaid invoices, upcoming shoots, and galleries clients still need to receive.
Those records create the first useful dashboard. Old clients can come later.
Before importing, decide which labels matter:

After thirty days, look for three numbers: inquiry response time, unpaid invoice balance, and booking conversion rate. If those improve, the migration is working.
Everything else can be refined while the studio keeps moving.
